Manny is home and Dr. updates

Manny came home from the hospital yesterday, thank goodness!! He is back to acting just like his old self and it's good to see. He has to do nebulizer treatments every 3 hours and also has 2 other meds. We are doing the best we can to keep him away from Julian. It's a good thing there are so many helping hands to keep Manny occupied or help with feeding Julian.

We had an appointment for Julian with his doctor today. He weighed in at 8 lbs and 12 oz. They measured him 21 inches and I saw it so I believe it; I don't think he grew an inch in 4 days (hospital said he was 20 in). He has long chicken legs. Even with him being 8 lbs, almost 9, he still looks so small to me.

We were supposed to take Manny to the doctor tomorrow for a checkup and being that they are calling for bad weather we were able to get him in today while we were going. His oxygen level was 94/95% and his pulse and heart rate were better. I have to continue treatments and bring him back in a week. He has to have another chest x-ray at the end of next week to see how his lung is looking. It will be a long week for me next week trying to keep them separated all by myself.

Julian Joseph

Julian Joseph was born February 17, 2008 at 11:23 pm. He was 8 lbs and 9 oz 20 inches long. He is such a good baby and I am so in love again! I remember this feeling when I had Little Manny.

Julian was born the same day as my cousin's baby. Dylan Elise was born Sunday morning and my grandmother (their great grandmother) called to tell me I needed to have the baby by the end of the night. She thought it would be neat for the two to have the same birthday. I told her I'd get working on it but never planned for that night. I was having contractions but very irregular. Low and behold my contractions picked up and by the time I got to the hospital I had Julian 3 1/2 hrs later. I truly believe grandma did a lot of praying on Sunday; so much that I went too quickly for my epidural (thanks gram).

There are no pics with the big brother because he is in the hospital and hasn't seen his baby brother yet. He was admitted Monday with pneumonia and RSV. Hopefully he will be home soon. Yesterday after I got released from the hospital I got Julian set up at home with Daddy and I went and spent 6 hours with Manny at the hospital. I will be glad when my baby is home. It's been a stressful, but joyous few days

Happy Valentine's Day

I had really thought I'd have a baby by now...good thing I resisted buying a cute "My 1st Valentine's Day" bib or outfit!! Below is a picture of the beautiful roses my husband bought for me. I have never seen a rose like this before. It's hard to see in the picture but they are like dark and light pink leopard stripes...Absolutely beautiful!!!! I also got white chocolate covered strawberries; sorry no pics of them because I've been eating them!! I love you baby!!!!

So a decision was finally made...if I don't go on my own over the weekend I have to be at the hospital Monday night and my Dr will use cervadil to try and open my cervix. I am a fingertip right now; that's a lot better than "you're still closed"!!!! This is what had to be done with my first delivery and it didn't work, neither did the pitocin. She ended up breaking my water just to move things along.

My cousin's wife is also expecting this month (her due date is after mine) and she is already like 4 cm and moving along quite nicely. This is just not fair. I am dying to know whether they are having a boy or girl and hey who knows, the cousins may just have the same birth date.

39 weeks 4 days

So at the biophysical profile today the guesstimate is (drum roll please..........................) 8 lbs. 2 oz. +/- 20 oz and due February 19.

We are home...obviously without a baby!!

So, we got to the hospital and registered and they brought me up to labor and delivery... They hooked me up to the blood pressure machine (can I just tell you how much I despise that hurtful thing!!) and the fetal monitor. Well my first couple of blood pressures were 80s or 90s/50s. Okay now I've never seen my BP so low. Manny pointed out that the woman put the cuff down and part way around my elbow so Dr. Aviles fixed it for me and put it higher up on my arm. At that point it was reading 115/62 (more normal for me). I had blood work done and they messed that up with the wrong name. No one checked my arm band to make sure they had the right name. Needless to say Manny told me we are never letting the baby out of our sight when he have him. The baby was doing great with heart rate acceleration and deceleration so the midwife on call came and discharged me. I am thankful that all is well with the baby, but so ready to have him!!!

I have a biophysical today and back the the Dr tomorrow. One day this precious child will arrive (I just hope it is before the end of February!!) At this rate I might as well go back to work, then he'll come.
